How to set the electric turntable not to rotate automatically after turning on?

Currently, most electric turntables on the market automatically start rotating as soon as they are powered on and the switch is activated. While this setup is quite simple, some buyers have specific needs: they prefer that the turntable does not rotate automatically after power is connected and the switch is turned on, and only rotates when they decide to start it. In fact, such electric turntables have been available for a long time. ComXim’s earlier models, including the MTxRL, MTxRLPro, MTxRELPro, MTxRUBL, MTxRUWLPro, and MTxRUWSLPro series, were designed to remain stationary after powering on. However, ComXim later changed this feature so that the turntables would start rotating automatically upon power-up. Now, let’s take a closer look at why ComXim made this change and the steps to set the turntable so that it doesn’t rotate automatically when powered on.

Why Should the Electric Turntable Be Set to Rotate Automatically After Powering On?

ComXim produced an earlier batch of turntables that were set to not rotate by default after powering on. However, to enable normal rotation, users needed to control the turntable using a remote, and some models could even be operated via mobile apps or computer apps. This reliance on remote control made it more difficult for some buyers to use the turntables, leading to misunderstandings and causing them to mistakenly believe that our electric turntables had quality issues, which resulted in numerous after-sales problems.

In light of this, our company has now set all electric turntables to automatically rotate after power on during the production phase. This change has resolved many misunderstandings, allowing buyers to operate the turntables easily upon receipt. Additionally, it has significantly reduced unnecessary after-sales issues, improving customer satisfaction and operational efficiency for our company.

Which Electric Turntables Produced by ComXim Support the Setting to Not Rotate After Powering On?

Currently, ComXim produces a wide range of electric turntables. These include the MTxRL, MTxRLPro, MTxRELPro, MTxRUBLPro, MTxRUWLPro, MTxRUWSLPro, MTxRUBSL, and MTxRUPSLPro series. All these series can be set to not rotate after power on. They all support angle rotation mode settings. They also come with a 31-key remote, a 56-key remote, or mobile/computer apps. These apps even allow for secondary development.

Of course, if the currently available turntables do not meet your needs, our company offers customization options. We can develop various types of electric turntables tailored to your specifications. Interested customers are welcome to contact us for further discussion.

How to Set the Turntable to Not Rotate After Powering On?

Control Using a 31-Key or 56-Key Remote:

Angle Rotation Mode (set to 0.1° rotation)

1 : Connect the power supply and turn on the turntable switch. The turntable will start rotating automatically.
2 : To enable the angle rotation mode, follow these steps. Using the remote control, press the 0.1° button. Then press the Angle Rotation Mode button. The turntable will rotate 0.1°, stop for 3-4 seconds, and then continue rotating another 0.1°. This cycle will repeat automatically.
3 : Press the Save button to enable power-off memory, so the turntable retains the 0.1° angle rotation setting.
4 : Turn off the turntable and turn it back on. The turntable will rotate 0.1°.
5 : If you want the turntable to rotate normally or set another rotation mode, simply adjust it using the remote control.

Supported turntable series include: MTxRLPro, MTxRELPro, MTxRUBLPro, MTxRUWLPro, MTxRUWSLPro, MTxRUBSLPro, and MTxRUPSLPro.

Pendulum (Back-and-Forth) Rotation Mode (set to 0.1° rotation):

1 : Connect the power supply and turn on the turntable switch. The turntable will start rotating automatically.
2 : Using the remote control, press the 0.1° button, then press the Pendulum Mode button (the turntable will oscillate back and forth within a 0.1° range, repeating this cycle).
3 : Press the Save button to enable power-off memory, so the turntable retains the 0.1° pendulum mode setting.
4 : Turn off the turntable and turn it back on. The turntable will rotate 0.1°.
5 : If you want the turntable to rotate normally or set another rotation mode, simply adjust it using the remote control.

Note:

Although the turntable rotates 0.1°, it is still considered to be in motion, just minimally so. The rotation in angle mode is slightly more noticeable compared to the pendulum mode. This setting can meet the needs of some buyers. These buyers want the turntable to appear stationary after power on. However, it does not completely stop the movement in the strictest sense.

Setting Up via Mobile App or Computer App:

Direct Setup:

1 : Download the App: Visit the website https://comxim.com/softwareapps-demo/ to download and install the mobile app or computer app.
2 : Connect Power and Turn On the Turntable: Connect the power supply and turn on the turntable switch , the turntable will start rotating automatically.
3 : Connect Your Device : For mobile: Open your phone’s Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings to connect your phone to the turntable ; for computer: Use a USB cable to connect the computer to the turntable.

Mobile Wi-Fi Connection Steps:

The Bluetooth connection steps for the mobile phone are the same as the Wi-Fi connection method. For the computer, simply connect to the turntable using a USB cable.

Step 4 : Open the mobile app or computer app to connect to the turntable; the mobile app interface and the computer app interface are as follows:

Step 5 : Select either Angle Rotation or Pendulum (Back-and-Forth) Rotation and set the angle to 0.0001°, which means the turntable will hardly rotate. At this point, use the Save button on the app to save the selected mode. Turn off the power and turn it back on to achieve the effect of not rotating after power on.

Set Up Using CT Commands via Computer App:

Step 1: Connect the computer and the turntable using a USB cable, open the computer app, and locate the debugging window. The position of the window is as follows:

Step 2: Enter the commands in the debugging window to achieve control. The command package download link is: https://comxim.com/development-kit/ .

Taking the example of setting the back-and-forth rotation (angle rotation) to 0.00001°, enter the command in the debugging window 2 :

The numbers in parentheses represent the following:

direction (Rotation Direction):
0: Left turn (clockwise)
1: Right turn (counterclockwise)
turnMode (Rotation Mode):
0: Continuous rotation mode (default)
1: Intermittent rotation mode (rotates and pauses at intervals)
2: Swing rotation mode
shutter (Automatic Shutter):
0: Do not automatically output the shutter
1: Automatically output the shutter
angle (Rotation Angle):
The angle of rotation (positive float, in degrees)
seconds (Pause Time):
Positive integer, in seconds
times (Repeat Times):
Positive integer, in times

The shutter function only supports turntables that can control the camera shutter for taking photos. Turntables that do not support shutter control cannot connect to a camera to achieve automatic photo-taking functionality.

Anthother example, CT+START(1,1,1,0.000001,4,4); sets the turntable to rotate to the right (direction=1) in an intermittent mode (turnMode=1), rotating 0.000001 degrees each time (angle=0.000001). After each 0.000001-degree rotation, it pauses for 4 seconds (seconds=4), and this 0.000001-degree rotation is repeated 4 times (times=4). During each pause after the 0.000001-degree rotation, it triggers the shutter to take a photo (shutter=1).

Currently, the following series of turntables support this feature: MTxRUBLPro, MTxRUWLPro, MTxRUWSLPro, MTxRUBSLPro, MTxRUPSLPro, and others.

Note: The angle of rotation can be set to a very small value using the mobile app or computer app, thus achieving the effect of the turntable not rotating after power on. If you need to adjust the rotation mode after powering on, you can do so via the mobile app, computer app, or remote control.
